from the Principal ....

Dear Parents/Caregivers/Students/Staff

It has been a very busy few weeks.  Our Years 11 and 10 students have been sitting their exams since Tuesday 4th June through to Tuesday 11th June with a few follow up exams yesterday (Thursday). On Wednesday 12th June students enrolled in one or more VCE or scored VCE VET units 3/4 sat their GAT exam.  The whole exam period ran very well thanks mainly to the efforts of Brett Younger, our Senior School Manager and his team of senior Year Level Co-ordinators A special mention as well to our Admin staff, particularly Donna Wilson, our Daily Organiser and Jill Langford for the part they played in the smooth running of the exam period.  A lot of hard work by a lot of staff.

Year 12 Formal

Te Year 12 Formal is fast approaching.  It is to ber held at Lincoln of Toorak, Trak Centre, 445 Toorak Road, Toorak.  The cost of the ticket is $90 which covers the cost of a 3 course mean and non-alcoholic refreshments.  This is an alcohol and drug free event and their will be no pass outs.  Tickets are available now through Dawn, our Bursar.

Work Experience

From Monday 17th June our Year 10 students will be away from school on Work Experience.  It’s a huge undertaking to organise so many students into Work Experience placements at one time, and acknowledgement and thanks must go to Ms Emma Farrington Williams and Ms Karly Hargreaves for their efforts in this area, as well as the support and assistance provided by our Senior School Coordinators.  The benefits to students of participation in organised Work Experience make the effort worthwhile.  Thank you also to all those parents/carers who worked hard to either find or provide Work Experience placements for their children.

School Reports

Today, our teaching staff, having been hard at work writing student reports.  These reports will be checked and, if necessary, re-checked before they are uploaded to COMPASS.  The reports should be available on COMPASS after 3.00pm on Friday 28th June.

Avenues Exchange

The time is getting nearer.  Our Exchange team will be leaving for South Australia on Sunday 23rd June.  We wish them all the best.

Sick children

This is the time of year when there are lots of runny noses, coughs and colds and various ailments.  Most of the time children are well enough to come to school even if they do have a cold or a runny nose.  I would ask though, that if your child is really unwell before they come to school please keep them at home.  We have had a few occasions lately where a child has come to school and gone straight into sickbay where we have had to call a parent to collect them.  It would be better for all concerned if the child stayed at home and was given a chance to recover.

Uniform survey

The College Council is surveying ALL students, parents and staff to get feedback on our current uniform policy to ensure that we have a uniform that is equitable, inclusive and represents the values ans standards of our Cheltenham community.

Students please ensure you complete the survey no later than 17th June. We will provide Pastoral Care time on Monday 17th June, however, the Year 10 students will need to do this in their own time as they are doing work experience.
