SPECIALIST CLASSES

Hello students and families!

We have continued to be amazed at some of the work being sent in to us from home. It has been FABULOUS to see some of the effort being put into tasks, especially finding clever ways to do activities with limited materials. We have loved seeing your faces on Google Meet this week and being able to share what we have all been up to.

Have a look at some of the work that has been sent in below.

                          VISUAL ARTS

Last week, students were invited to an exhibition........and were asked to discuss what they like about art and to make connections. Here are some of the responses.

Art is definitely a way people have used it to express their feelings and emotions. Many think that art is only because of its beauty, however in real life you can incorporate art as a language: a way to let people see and think through paintings, colours, sculptures and even textures. It is a way people show their culture and express other things. Furthermore, while doing art, it makes you feel more free. It gives you this space that just lets you think and calm down, a bit like meditation. It can pull you apart from the hectic world and take you somewhere quiet.

Through the slideshow that I saw, I could truly feel the time and effort everyone had put in. In other words, art has given happiness to children. Something that we really need, especially in this pandemic. Every single piece of art was unique and represented something different. For instance, the autumn leaves had somehow made me feel closer to mother nature. Art is definitely something that has made a difference to the world. In fact, what would life be like without art? Art is that tiny dot of warmth that bubbles in our body, taking us from the darkest times of life to the brightest.

I like looking at all the details everyone puts in. And I like looking at all the colours. It makes me feel happy.

....."I think art can connect us." If you’re sending a letter to your friend but you don’t know what to say, you can always just send them a drawing of all the things you want to tell them. You can show people what you think about certain things by doing street art (legal graffiti) and you can bring people together into art galleries to show people the work you’ve put into your art. Art is that little bit of glue that draws the society together.

Art is a piece of work that is beautiful or creative. Art can be anything. Some examples are: paintings, drawings, sculptures, knitting and sewing.I think art is a personal creation. It can be man made, but also natural. I like 3D art because it looks like it is really alive. Some of the poppy art was 3D.

Watching the slide show made me feel happy because I liked the art. I liked the poppies because they looked pretty. I also liked the trees because of the nice autumn coloured leaves. I also liked the owls because they were cute. Thank you for sharing the pictures.

STEAM

I have enjoyed finding my way through the mazes that you have all created.  They really are a-MAZE-ing!

So many different materials were used to construct mazes of different sizes and shapes.  There were some very tricky and intricate mazes that would be very easy to get lost in and some very creative pathways.  Thank you to all those people who took the opportunity to challenge themselves as they completed the task and well done to you.   It was very cool to watch the videos demonstrating how to go through mazes too.   I hope you all had fun designing and making your maze.  Take a look at the photos of just some of the wonderful work that was submitted.
