Artists of the Weeks

Artists of the week are Chole W and Shuzhong from 6DT for their terrific creations inspired by 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' by Hokusai.  After painting a background, the waves and ocean in the foreground were created by using a new technique that involved painting with plasticine.  This was a highly engaging and hands on activity for all students.  They really enjoyed mixing and blending colours to make different shades of blue as well as adding texture to demonstrate the power and movement in ocean.  Fantastic result, well done!

If you are interested in finding out more about this technique, please watch the following clip.

ART SMOCKS

Quite a few children in the school are coming to art classes without an art smock of their own. We do not provide spare smocks. Please ensure that your child has an appropriate smock that is clearly labelled with their name.

ART WEEK 2019

In week 8 of term 3, Boroondara Park PS will again be celebrating Art Week. This year we have synchronized with the whole school Expo.

Art Week is an opportunity to showcase the artwork of our students, with students from Foundation to grade 6 exhibiting a piece of their art for the enjoyment of the school community. It’s not necessarily about looking just for your own child’s work, but for experiencing the depth and breadth of the whole art program here at Boroondara Park.

We are also aware that there are a number of adult artists in our community. We think that Art Week is a fantastic chance to include some of your work in our display to allow us to discover the talent in our school community and at the same time, open the students’ eyes to the notion of art as a lifetime pursuit, or even possible career choice.

If you would like to offer an artwork for exhibition during Art Week, we would love to hear from you in the Art Department. But please do let us know early, as last minute submissions cannot be accommodated.

We are looking forward to another successful Art Week event, so please pop it in your calendar: September 2 – 6.
