The Principal's Report

Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits

What wonderful entertainment we had at the Besen Centre on Wednesday and Thursday evening this week. Our students have worked so hard to be prepared for the production, they have practised on weekends, early mornings, lunchtimes and recesses. Their teachers and families have supported them throughout the journey. We appreciate all of the parent support with props, sets and costumes.

Special thanks to Llaaneath Poor who directed and coordinated the entire event. I know that she would have been proud of our students, their dedication and performance. It was great to stand in the wings and see the smiles and pride as the students came off stage. The dedication and time Llaaneath gives to the production from selection of play to preparation for the final performance is outstanding. We were all well organised and each night ran smoothly with the back stage crew of students a sight to see, they knew at what point to move sets, find props and change microphones.

Each student on stage showed enthusiasm and commitment to sharing the best possible performance.

We hope you all enjoyed your evening of entertainment.

100 Days

One hundred of anything is a lot, especially when you are 5 or 6 years old. This week our Foundation students marked their 100th day at school. Their journey in education is still beginning, but they have had a great celebration and filled their day with all things 100. Enjoy the extra page in the newsletter all about this special day.

Foundation for 2020

Do you have a child starting school in 2020? Have you filled in your enrolment form? We would love to have all of our Foundation enrolments set within the next couple of weeks. We will be sending confirmation letters out next week to all those families who have enrolled their child in Foundation. When confirmations have been returned we will be able to start planning our classes and work towards confirming how many Foundation classes we are able to have in 2020.

Are you leaving Boroondara Park PS at the end of 2019?

We are starting to plan for the 2020 school year. If you know that your child is not returning to BPPS for the 2020 school year then please take the time to provide details via the Google Form link below.

Parent Opinion Survey

Invitations were sent out for the Parent Opinion Survey on Monday July 29th. We appreciate you taking time to complete the survey and providing us with valuable feedback.

If you have any questions regarding the survey please contact the office.

Supporting Parents

I hope to continue providing useful information to parents through articles and this week I have included one on leadership skills. At School Council on Tuesday we discussed the school's Student Leadership program and this article from Michael Grose's Parenting Ideas website talks about how you can support your child to build essential leadership skills.

Here is another in the Carly Ryan series around digital technologies and apps - this week I have included information on Instagram.

The idea for an online parent library has been borrowed from St Luke's Catholic College in NSW, during a recent professional learning session it was shared and we hope to build a similar resource for our parents. Here is the link to their library - St Luke's Parent Library

We would like to know what you would like us to add to our parent library - the Google form will only take a few minutes to complete -
