2020 Yearbook - Cover design competition
Dear SMPPS Families,
We are preparing our 2020 Yearbook and would love to have the yearbook cover designed by a student again!
Here are key things to consider if your child would like to enter the competition:
- What images capture our 2020 school year?
- What will our yearbook title be?
- You might think about our special events, specialist classes, habits of mind focus, school motto and values, class events, and generally what makes South Melbourne Park Primary the best school to be at.
- You must create your design on an A4 piece of paper using a portrait layout.
- You need to complete it by colouring with pencils and textas.
To submit your entry, please email a photo or scanned copy of your completed artwork cover to Ms. Yamashiro at naomi.yamashiro@education.vic.gov.au.
You will also need to keep your original design and bring it to school in Term 4. Please do not fold your artwork.
Entries are due by Friday 11th September. Our Yearbook Committee, along with our Student Executive team will consider the entries and announce the winner in Term 4.
Happy designing!

Grateful
We are grateful to have our health and well-being from the support of our school.
Grateful for the moments of love and laughter shared in our family and my Mum"s homemade chicken schnitzel"s and lasagna.
Grateful for being able to connect with our loved ones over Skype and having a warm bed to get into at night with stories and cuddles.
Kindest regards

100 days of Learning Celebrations - PREPS
This week, the Prep children celebrated ‘100 Days of Learning’! The Preps got in the spirit by dressing up as a version of their 100 year old self. The morning live lessons had a party theme with children dancing and singing. Throughout the day, the children were invited to a virtual party hosted by the Prep teachers. Children were able to click on images in the party to reveal different activities with the theme of all things to do with the number 100.
Well done to all our Prep students on completing 100 days of learning!
Art work from 2/3D

STEM NEWS
Happy Science Week SMPPS Stemgineers!
Keep enjoying the online science activities at www.scienceweek.net.au
Thank you to everyone who has sent in their Science Week Ocean Life LEGO
challenge. I’m so impressed by seeing everyone's sealife builds. No matter how
many blocks you have, your builds are awesome.
And some of you are not even using LEGO, you are using anything you have got
around the house or drawing up your plans for big ocean cleaning ideas.
Please keep adding all these amazing sea scenes and your equipment to save the
ocean to Seesaw, (you can find all the details on Seesaw too).
All of the builds are looking amazing.
Please keep sending your builds in before Friday 20 August to be included in the SMPPS Science Week Ocean Life gallery slide show. I am looking forward to seeing more and making them into a slide show.
Post a photo or video of your work to Seesaw and add the STEM folder or comment that it is for the STEM Leaders.
Thanks everyone!
Extra STEM Challenge
Also for a fun family STEM activity how about a paper plane competition? Please let
me know via Seesaw how far you can fly your paper plane at home and for how long
it can stay in the air and send a photo of your design.
An Australian won the World Cup last year with a plane that lasted in the air for 13
seconds. My best is 2 seconds 5 ms so far.
