MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS
Mr Joel McDougall
Year 10 Coordinator
Term 3 Week 2 Newsletter Article - Middle Sub School
The Middle School has been a hive of activity since the return to school for Semester 2.
Students in Year 9 and 10 have been greeted with a new undercover area, comprising a different setup position for lockers and a specific weather protected area, that will be allocated with seating in the coming days.
I would also like to remind students that they need to have all the necessary equipment for their classes. You must have an exercise book, pens, and a diary for every theory class. Bringing one pen and one exercise book (that's used for every subject) is not good enough.
You must also ensure you have a working and charged device for every class.
- If you have a broken device (Laptop or iPad) you must take it to the school's IT Desk to get it fixed immediately.
- This should be done preferably, before or after school (not during class time)
- IT staff will happily provide you with a loan device until it is fixed.
- This is the same for those with a BYOD device also. IT staff can help to get this fixed and should be your first point of contact.
- Reminder school purchased iPads have a two year insurance Apple Care warranty.
- If you are looking at purchasing a new device please ensure you consult IT first.

Thank you to all those Year 9 students who participated in the Morrisby course counselling sessions. Speaking to students and looking through their booklets, it was obvious that a lot of students took away valuable information from these sessions. Reminder to students in Year 9 and 10 that you can access these reports and log on to your portal through the Morrisby website. https://www.morrisby.com/
Reminder that students have Parent Teacher Interviews for all of their classes on Tuesday, 28 July, and need to book on Compass for interview times. Along with gaining some honest feedback, these interviews will provide an excellent opportunity for students and teachers to discuss potential subject options for 2021. These will be done via google meet this year, made available via your child's device for you and your child to connect to teachers for the conferences.
Students in Year 10 will participate in a Careers Week prior to completing subject selections. It is really important that students are talking to their teachers and parents and doing their research. Morrisby reports should be a starting point prior to choosing their subjects. There is an expectation that all students will attend and participate in all these activities.
