Junior School Learning

Discoveries

Inquiry – Technology and Design

This term we will be planning, designing, making, testing and evaluating.  Our first project was making a paper plane.  Over the next few weeks we will be making a boat that floats, a house out of sticks and a marble run out of paddle pop sticks!

In Personal Learning sessions, we have focused on working collaboratively in groups. Students have been given a range of ‘missions’ and have had to respectfully work with their peers to achieve the desired outcome. It has been wonderful to see many students demonstrating behaviours that reflect the Teesdale Values Matrix.

Indonesian

This term in Indonesian students are learning about different animals. Everyone has been getting very creative this term and have done a bagus job so far!

Digital Technologies

In Digital Technologies, the Junior School students are learning how to use an app called ScratchJr on the iPads. ScratchJr is a visual programming language designed to introduce programming skills to children ages 5-8. By creating projects in ScratchJr, young children can learn to think creatively and reason systematically without requiring reading skills. It is a free app if you wanted to download ScratchJr and practise programming at home.
