Mr Irwin's Message

Hello Families and welcome back to Term 3.

It’s been a very settled start to term given the circumstances. Students have settled well into the routines established earlier in the year and continued to be diligent in hand hygiene and sanitising when arriving to school, at break times and prior to specialist classes.

Our additional sanitising and cleaning procedures have continued to support having a safe learning and working environment. This includes an early morning clean of the playground, wiping of tables and key contact areas such as door handles and taps in the student toilets at recess.

We are thankful for continued support from our families at drop off and pickup time. Recent closures in Geelong Primary schools are a reminder that we need to remain really diligent with our social distancing for the foreseeable future.

At this stage, procedures around masks and remote learning do not impact our school, but I’d encourage diligence in all aspects of your day to day routine to ensure we have the opportunity to keep that this way.

In the hustle and bustle of remote learning we’ve landed very quickly in Term 3 and it is time to start enrolling a new cohort of foundation students for 2021. It’s always an exciting time to be welcoming in younger siblings or new families to our school, and this is the same despite the current climate.

We are very keen to showcase our school to prospective families and as such will be hosting an information evening on Wednesday the 5th of August from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. Your interest for this event can be registered by calling the school office to RSVP.

This information evening will include a rundown of our Digital Information pack, including 'How to Enrol' information. We’ll also take families for a tour through the Junior Classrooms.

Given current social distancing restrictions this event will be run as a Facebook Live event, accessible through our school’s Facebook page.

If you are not a user of Facebook we will email a link available of the stream that you can access without the need for a Facebook Account or Profile. However following our Facebook page is one of the ways to develop a better understanding of our school.

We look forward to your virtual attendances on the night to learn more about our school and enrolment procedures.

Welcome to our new Art Teacher!

Dearest Teesdale families

My name is Susie Belcher and I’m the new art teacher at your school. I am really excited to be in Teesdale and teaching your children all about creating and making.

I have been an art teacher at Footscray West Primary School for the past 20 years...... so lovely to be in the fresh air at Teesdale!

I’m a big fan of art appreciation so I’m hoping that you will hear ALL about Vincent Van Gogh, Picasso and Leonardo da Vinci at dinner time conversations! I also love sculpture and building large scale papier-mâché ‘things’. I’m hoping we can start some big projects soon!

So on that note ......I hate to bombard you with a wish list straight away, but if you have any of these bits and pieces I would be super appreciative!

The things we are looking for are ........

Newspapers

Cardboard rolls and poles

Old tangled beaded necklaces

Cardboard Boxes

Wool

Please send any items on either Mondays or Tuesdays with your child, who can take them directly to the art room before school.

I’m really looking forward to meeting you and if you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me at school.

Your new art teacher

Susie
