Nurture Conference Information

Christian Education National (CEN), our parent organisation, holds a Nurture Conference each year to promote Christian Education in Australia.  COVID-19 has put a spanner in the national part of this conference.  This has had an unexpected benefit for us here in Tasmania.  Launceston Christian School is hosting the conference this year and the Board at LCS are investing heavily in this critical and strategic initiative.

LCS is providing the opportunity for any LCS parents to come to this conference completely free of charge.

The Nurture Conference is from Friday 4 September (Evening Dinner only) and all day Saturday 5 September.  It begins with a lovely FREE dinner on the Friday evening @  7pm in the Tamar Room at The Tailrace Centre, Riverside.  On Saturday, the conference will continue at our school from 9am - 4.30pm.  It will be delivered as a sort of a hybrid conference, making the most of both face-to-face and remote presenters.

We look forward to contributions from great speakers including Chris Parker, Rod Thompson, Michelle Dempsey, Bonny Moroni, and Stelle Carmichael, as well as many locals who will share in various ways. The program seeks to build and focus on nurturing strong foundations, faith and family partnership with schools.

Parents will be challenged to a fuller and deeper understanding of what it means to be responsible for the training and education of their children, and in light of that, how Christ-centred education supports parents in this task.

For a detailed program of the conference see below:

If you would like to attend the Nurture Conference please contact Tanya Socorro via the school office or email:  socorrot@lcs.tas.edu.au   A reminder that there is no cost for any LCS parent who attends.

Deadline for expressions of interest is Thursday 20th August.

While we obviously encourage parents to attend together, we understand the various circumstances that allow for only one to attend.  All are welcome!

New Parent Induction Courses - Term 3

Our New Parent Induction Course is held for new or prospective families enrolling at school and it's a great opportunity to explore our school community.

The course is led by our Principal, Adrian Bosker and held on a Saturday morning in the school library from

9am - 1pm.  Parents are provided with light refreshments and freshly brewed coffee.

For prospective parents it's a casual, friendly opportunity to discover the benefits of Christian Education and gain an insight into the school community.  For newly enrolled families, an invitation to attend is sent to parents, as this is a requirement of enrolment. LCS uses this opportunity to share it's Mission, Faith and to also give practical information about the running of the school.

The course will be held twice in Term 3 and once in Term 4 this year and dates are below.

We'd love to share with you about our school community, so if you're interested in knowing more, please contact Registrar Tanya Socorro:  socorrot@lcs.tas.edu.au
