ITALIAN 

Prep - Year Two

At the commencement of Term Three the students in Prep to Year 2 will begin with the topic - Learning to identify the parts of the body. This will be revision for the Year one and Year two students and it will be a new topic for the prep students.

The students will learn correct pronunciation by listening to modelled language online, listening to songs and completing set tasks.

The Prep students will also learn to count from one to ten. This will take the form of different activities including online games, songs and modelled language that they can listen to and practise by repetition.

The Year One and Year Two students will learn about Personal Identity, writing and speaking about themselves in simple sentences. They will complete drawings, read various texts and complete related activities to assist them with their learning.

 

Year Three and Four

This term the students will commence with revision of months of the year and days of the week. 

The focus will include recognition and correct pronunciation. Activities will include online activities, songs and completing writing tasks.

The students will also learn, understand and perform an Italian poem of their choice. Activities will include listening to Italian poems online, drawings and creative thinking tasks.

CHINESE

This term the students in Year 5 and Year 6, will communicate using the following vocabulary and topics; food likes and dislikes, confirm a café order, understand a Chinese menu, order and state if food is cheap or expensive. They will read pinyin sounds i, ü attempting correct pronunciation and identify the metal radical in different characters.

 

In Culture, they will learn about; the unique ways Chinese food is prepared and cooked, delivery times, the features of WeChat for daily life in China, the effects of smartphones, Chinese money and table settings.

 

They will also take part in one activity related to Chinese culture; how to use chopsticks, practice this skill and describe how they are used to eat different food types.

VISUAL ARTS

The Visual Arts program uses a variety of learning contexts appropriate to students’ phase of development and their previous experiences. Often the same processes and strategies are dealt with in an increasingly complex way as students develop.   

 

During the course of Term 3, which again involves the challenges of online learning, students will engage in the 4 learning areas within the Visual Arts Curriculum. 

  • Visual Enquiry: developing art ideas across different platforms including digital.
  • Arts Skills and Processes: drawing , painting and 3D art
  • Responding & reflecting on their own and other’s art works: through online galleries
  • Exploring the role of Arts in Society: personal investigation.

PERFORMING ARTS

Preps- 1/2

This term, students will be learning about dance and how we can choose movements that suit different styles of music. They will explore different ways to show emotions and how dance can be used to tell a story.

 

3/4

Students will be learning about different styles of dance and what defines each style. They will explore the time from when it came, music styles, costumes and how the movements are created to form each style. We will explore Aboriginal Dreamtime stories through dance.

 

5/6

Students will be learning about different styles of dance and what defines each style. They will explore the time from when it came, music styles, costumes and how the movements are created to form each style. We will explore dances from other cultures and the evolution of dance.
