P-TECH Program

Tuesday 4 August,  Henry Kendall High School kicked off our P-TECH Program with the Year 9 iSTEM Class. In the coming weeks we will also invigorate the program with our Year 10 students who were given a taste of what was involved in 2019.

P-TECH is a program in partnership with IBM International aimed at establishing educational pathways in local industry areas - for Henry Kendall High School our industry partner will be Central Coast Local Health District who are the largest employer on the Central Coast.

The program aims to provide students with the skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world, rich workplace experiences, mentoring, job readiness and strong post school pathways.

Today's introduction had our IBM Industry Liaison, Jillian Williams, and the coordinator of the industry mentoring component, Suzy Miller, in attendance and addressing the students.

P-Tech is an international program in over 200 countries, and Henry Kendall High School is one of only 20 schools in Australia to be involved. It is an exciting and unique opportunity tailored specifically for the students of Henry Kendall High School.

P-TECH is Underway!!

On Wednesday 12 August, Miss Reynen’s Year 9, 200 hour iSTEM class had their first mentoring session within the P-TECH IBM Immersion Mentoring Program via Zoom Virtual Meeting.

Students were placed into 11 groups and guided by an industry mentor from the Central Coast. The skills, knowledge and experience the mentors impart with our students will be very rewarding in terms of preparing the students of Henry Kendall High School for workplace expectations as an employee or the process of thinking about career pathways. Our students also today were afforded the opportunity to hear from industry trained personnel / mentors on their work / career journey which was incredibly inspiring.

We would like to say an enormous THANK YOU to Suzy Miller – Mentor Facilitator and Jillian Williams – P-TECH Industry Liaison for assisting our students and mentors today.

Looking forward to our second mentoring session on 11 September, 2020. #WeArePTECH
