Welcome to the 2020 school year and to our broader MITS family. The school year in the MITS classroom has started beautifully with 21 courageous students ready to embark on what will be a pretty incredible journey. We welcomed the students and the families into the classroom as part of our MITS Orientation in week 1 and there was a real sense of excitement about the partnership that we endeavour to forge throughout the coming years.
To help the students gain a better understanding of Melbourne and its surrounds they have visited the Botanical Gardens, King & Woods Mallesons (what a view!), Melbourne Sport and Aquatic Centre and will over the next few weeks visit Melbourne University and head off on a 3 day camp to Camp Manyung. All of these activities are linked to the learning program being crafted by Michael Barnhoorn and Isabelle Schneider, our talented MITS teachers.
Over the next few issues you will start to notice a much greater contribution to the newsletter by the MITS students. We want to support them becoming more confident writers and photographers and allow them to tell their MITS story. Keep and eye out for their writing and photos on the MITS Student page and in the MITS Photo Booth.
Finally, a big congratulations to Phillip Cooper and Hazel Armstrong who are the Term 1 MITS Captains and the first group of Award Winners at the most recent MITS Assembly.
The MITS Award winners were:

MITS Academic: George
