Table Tennis News

To cap an amazing year for Girton Grammar School’s Table Tennis where we made a clean sweep of the ICCES Competition, won seven out of a possible eight Sandhurst competitions as well as progressing all seven teams through the Regional Competitions to the State Finals, our Year Eight Girls Team were decisive winners of the State Title held in Melbourne on the 20th of November.

The Girls team of Hannah Green, Olivia Green, Charlotte Lowther and Mya Long went through the day not only undefeated as a team but also each player went through the day undefeated. This is the second year in a row that this team has been crowned State Champions.

Our Intermediate Girls Team of Annaliese Broom, Seyeon Ko, Charlie-Anne Sofo and Morgan O’Meara also played exceptionally well in making it to the Semi-Finals of the States despite losing their number two player to ill health the day before the event. Thanks go to Morgan for filling in so competently.

The Year Seven Girls Team of Amelie Woodward, Seren Smith, Ava Bonsey and Lily Richter competed well and won several games at this level. Next year girls.

When you consider that around four hundred schools compete at each year level, to reach the last eight teams at the State Finals is a significant achievement in itself.

The Year Seven Boys and the Intermediate Boys teams will be competing at the State Titles on Friday 29th November. We wish them all the best and congratulate them on reaching this elite level.
