Digital Technology

It has been a very busy year and the implementation of the Digital Technology program is well and truly becoming a daily part of the classroom practice at CHPS.
Room 10 has become a hive of technological activity and the regular visitors have become more and more skilled in their application of apps and programs we have been working on.
Stop Motion Studio
Many of the students using the iPads have been working on Stop Motion video using the app Stop Motion Studio. It is a free app that allows the students to take photos and join them together to create a movie. Similar to the process used to create cartoons, the students are using their creativity to develop some very amusing video using basic classroom items. We will be showing some of the creations at assembly in the coming weeks.
Paint.NET
Students in Middle School have been using the new ACER laptops to edit digital images using a free program called Paint.NET. This program is very similar to Adobe Photoshop without the hefty price-tag! Which is a win for everyone.
We have been learning about layers and using the magic wand to edit backgrounds using the green screen. The students have created props and images using this software to fit in with their Mappen units on Creativity.
It has been a very exciting 12 months in this area of the school. We have seen the purchase of 75 new iPads and 60 Acer Laptops. We have developed some amazing skills in both the students and the teachers and the Digital Technology curriculum is being embedded across the school. I can’t wait to see what 2019 has to offer.
