Assessment & Reporting

Schools were recently informed about a change to assessment and reporting requirements for Semester One that recognises the impact and disruption caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic:

Schools are required to provide a Semester One report

During remote and flexible learning, schools must:

  • provide a written report for parents/carers to understand for Semester One, 2020;
  • provide the opportunity for parents/carers and students to discuss the school report with teachers;
  • include commentary on student achievement and, where possible, progress.

In recognition that schools have adopted revised teaching and learning plans for Term Two, schools must provide:

  • a description of the areas of the Victorian Curriculum F-10 taught
  • a descriptive assessment of student learning achievement, based on the Victorian Curriculum
  • a comment on how the student has adjusted to the remote and flexible learning environment, with reference to the Personal and Social Capability curriculum.

A five-point scale for relevant subjects is not a requirement of reporting this semester.

Orchard Grove Primary has decided to address the above by:

  • Releasing the written reports through Compass on Tuesday 23rd June;
  • Holding our three-way conferences remotely using Google Meet. These will be held on Friday 26th June (details will follow); children will not be required to be at school on that day. TeamKids have offered free child care under the Government Child Care Subsidy Scheme. This will be available to families until 2:30pm. If you require assistance in this area, please contact TeamKids directly on 1300 035 000 to register your child/children;
  • Providing a curriculum overview statement that describes the areas of the Victorian Curriculum taught during Terms One and Two;
  • Teacher comments for Literacy, Maths, Integrated Studies and Specialist subjects;
  • A comment on how the student has adjusted to the learning from home environment, with reference to the Personal and Social Capability curriculum;
  • A general comment by the class teacher.

More detail will follow as we move closer to the end of Term Two.
