Stage 6

Stage 6 Update

Well done Stage 6! You deserve a good break over the upcoming 2-week holiday, making sure you return ready and reset for what will be a busy Term 3 for both Year 11 and 12. It will be the last term in their course for both year groups, and needs to be one of consolidation and completion. Students will need to focus on good attendance - by coming to school and going to class - in order to capitalise on successful learning opportunities.

Each year group will have important exams in Term 3. Year 12's HSC Trials will be held in Weeks 6 and 7; followed by Year 11's end-of-course exams at the end of the term. Many HSC subjects will have major works with deadlines that are fast approaching - we will continue to work with supporting Year 12 students in completing these projects.

Year 11 reports were issued last week. These Covid-impacted reports are a briefer version of our usual format, which reflects the disrupted pattern of learning our students have experienced this year. They mainly provide a snapshot of student achievement during Semester 1. We plan to provide a more detailed summary of student achievement and progress in Semester 2.

We encourage students and parents to talk to their teachers if there are any concerns. We have also asked students to reflect on their effort in starting Year 11, and drafted a survey to help us plan targeted and ongoing support for students. It can be accessed at:

Next term we will be deciding our next Student Leaders from Year 11.  I highly recommend that Year 11 students consider nominating for these positions. It is a rewarding experience, and one that sharpens all our skills around leadership and service.

We are ending this semester with Merit Assemblies for each year group. Lots of our senior are justifiably receiving certificates.  It provides a positive end to the term by recognising application, effort and achievement.

Have a great break -  wash your hands, keep your distance and stay safe!

Year 11 Geography

Year 11 students recently visited the new ASC construction site as part of their Geography syllabus.  During their excursion, students were able get a first-hand understanding of:

  • investigation of environmental protocols and geographical issues in relation to the demolition of old buildings;
  • site rehabilitation issues;
  • planning, development and building of the new school.
