Primary News

From Mrs Audrey Brown, Deputy Primary

It so wonderful to welcome back our students and hear the sound of so many happy voices. Thank you to all of the parents who have worked so hard helping with remote learning. Now that we are back we have increased our learning and support to ensure that an increased number of students are receiving intensive interventions. Mrs Honeyman, our Learning and Support Teacher K-6, has worked hard to ensure we have everyone covered.

Our teachers are running some basic assessments to ensure we understand where the children are up to with their learning journey and are adjusting their programs to target specific skill development. By this time, we have usually assessed students in all areas ready to report to parents. This Semester Report will be a modified report and may not be received until the beginning of Term 3. If in the meantime you have any concerns or questions, I encourage you to contact the class teacher.

A decision has been made that our K-6 School Production will not take place this year due to Covid-19 and the current restrictions. A production is a huge undertaking and takes many months of preparation. At this time we have decided that our focus needs to be on intensive learning. Whilst we at Molong Central School value the creative and practical arts and our sport, with a lull in the out of classroom commitments, we are enjoying focusing on our core business. Our Year 6 students always look forward to their turn in the spot light and as such, an alternative performance opportunity is already being planned so they do not miss out. Stay tuned.

We are planning alternative leadership opportunities for our School Leaders now that Primary Assemblies are not taking place. We will start with the leadership team who will be running the morning outdoor assemblies, a task usually managed by the teacher on Morning Duty.

Thank you for respecting the new rules relating to parents and carers not coming onto the school grounds. If collecting from Smith St, please make sure you drive all the way to the end of the zone if there is space and refrain from parking and chatting, as it holds up the traffic.

Kindergarten READY SET GO 2021

After a delay in getting the program up and going during Covid-19, we are ready to start taking enrolments for 2021 Kindergarten. If you have a child you wish to enrol, please call the Main Office to make an appointment with myself. This is simply an opportunity for me to find out about your child and give you the enrolment pack.

Please note that we are now under a new enrolment policy. This means that out of zone enrolments for Kindergarten will be assessed by an enrolment panel. Your local Primary school should always be considered first. If there are circumstances pertaining to your application these will be considered. This panel will meet early in Term 3, so please ensure out of zone enrolments are in early. If you are unsure of which school you are zoned for, head to: https://my.education.nsw.gov.au/school-finder and type in your address.
