WELCOME BACK!

The students in years 3-6 across our College have been working extremely hard this term both during the remote period and now back onsite.  What a term it was with all our staff, students (and their families) being thrown into the learning pit with regards to online learning platforms as our students navigated using Google Classroom, many for the first time.

We are so grateful that our parents and carers supported our students to ensure that they were able to continue with their learning during this period and we were so impressed with the work that many of our students submitted.

During the remote learning period we relied heavily on emails and the Google Classroom platform and we really missed seeing all our students each day. When we asked our students what they enjoyed most from this time learning from home, we realised a common thread was always spending more time with their families and sleeping longer.

But another aspect was how proud many of our students were when we asked them to show us with photos and videos of their home learning environments.

Although we are very grateful to be back at school and learning in our classrooms, we requested a few students film themselves in their home learning environments and asked them the following questions:

  • Where have you been learning in your home?
  • What have you enjoyed the most about the remote learning period?
  • What have you missed the most about school?
  • What are you most looking forward to when you return?

Enjoy the video compilations and I am certain these scenes were replicated across hundreds of homes!

This short 1 Minute video by Waimana is an example but please view the other 8 contributions by our wonderful students
