Vinnies COVID-19 Winter Appeal

On June 12, the O'Connor chapter of Vinnies have organised the annual Winter appeal. With the current cold snap it is more than ever needed. Students will have the opportunity prior to this to bring warm clothes and blankets to be donated to Vinnies on the day.

June 12 is also a mufti day when students will bring in a donation for the privilege of wearing mufti. This donation will be given to Vinnies for the Winter Appeal.

Aussie families like Ray, Catherine & Ben are facing an uncertain future.

"It's an emotional rollercoaster, day by day. I force myself to get out of bed every morning, just to stop thinking dark thoughts," said Catherine. "I just need some hope." Like millions of Australians, Catherine's husband Ray lost his job overnight when the country went into lockdown a few weeks ago. In the blink of an eye, life changed for Ray, Catherine, and their 5 year old son Ben. Now countless Aussie families like them face an uncertain future." Vinnies has made the difference between whether my family will eat or not," said Catherine.--

If you would like to know more about the COVID19 Winter appeal please check out the Vinnies website.

The Early Church

Year 8 students are currently doing a unit on Disciples, Martyrs and Witnesses to the Faith. This unit requires reflecting upon the events of the Early Church. It is timely because last Sunday was the feast of Pentecost, regarded as the birthday of the Church. Year 8 students will tell you, that the disciples were unsure of where to go or what to do without the Lord. When the Holy Spirit descended upon them at Pentecost, their mission was clear, to go forth and spread the Good News.

"When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.  All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them." Acts 2:1-13

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And you will renew the face of the earth. Lord, by the light of the Holy Spirit you have taught the hearts of your faithful. In the same Spirit help us to relish what is right and always rejoice in your consolation. We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
