ARTS WEEK -  DRAMA

Staying Creative

In these uncertain and isolating times, it’s a breath of fresh air to find connection and imagination through our computer screens. The Arts have always been a space for creativity, exploration and connection, three things that we need perhaps now more than ever. We can look to the Arts to help us navigate through this pandemic. As teachers and students migrate to an online platform, the challenges have no doubt been enormous. Luckily, we’re a creative bunch. Being forced to think outside the box has allowed for more collaboration in unexpected ways. We are able to virtually tour galleries, theatres and creative spaces across the globe, opening our minds to possibilities and new experiences.

Drama

Year 7 Drama class recently participated in a virtual improvisation workshop with actors from the Sydney Opera House.

Actor Ben Goss worked remotely from Tasmania with Year 7 Drama students, educating them about the importance of voice and how to use various techniques to create meaning. This led into our current project where students are creating their own radio play in the style of 1930’s and 40’s. Stay tuned!

Students comments

I enjoyed how the actors had so much energy which made everything so much fun and enjoyable.
Cerys

This incursion was really great as it was very interesting to see the different outcomes that everyone created. The voice and the personality of the characters were great as they were very fun.
Oliver

I really liked how the actors let us choose how the story went on and they were very energetic and kind. And they were all different and helped us in different ways.
Ilse

I liked how the people acted their characters and how they let us choose how the story went.
I also liked working together with my group and coming up with ideas and it made me and my group think outside the box
