Who am I?

 By Andy Callow - Principal

  • There is an International Day named in my honour

  • I wrote a reference book that changed an entire profession and established Tertiary training institutes in a number of countries

  • I received many awards including the Order of Merit and the Freedom of the City of London.  At least four museums have been named after me.

  • Using my passion for practical mathematics and statistics, and leading by example, I played a crucial role in increasing average national life expectancy, in a number of countries, by twenty years.

  • I was included in the list of the one hundred most influential historical figures in the UK … and also in Japan (!)

  • I was featured on the English 20 Pound Banknote and many international Postage stamps, and a US Navy Ship; a Dutch airplane and even an asteroid have been named after me.
