Sports News

We have had numerous students represent at both zone and area levels, the most significant of these has been at regional athletics where we had six students Tyler Gunn, Katie Gunn, Archie Tebbutt. Chris Karmadonoff, Ebony Wright and Jessica Buth qualify to compete at CHS athletics. Tyler won 6 events, the 100, 200, 400, 800, shot and Javelin, breaking the 800 record, Katie winning the 100 and coming second in the 200 and long jump, Jess winning the 100 and 200 and coming 2nd in long jump, Chris coming second in both the 100 and 200 with a third in the shot and Ebony winning the 100 and coming 2nd in both the 200 and long jump, Oscar won the 3000m walk. All these students will represent at CHS later in the term. We wish them all the best of luck.
Other students with notable results were Finlay Flanagan-Flaherty 3rd in high jump, Skye Rawlings 3rd in long jump, and Brianna Irvine 3rd in javelin.
At regional cross country we had 10 students competing, Molly Brian, Mitchell Finn, Kasey Boelhouwer, Ellanor Meese, Katie Gunn, Patrick Bull, Georgia Riley, Tyler Gunn, Jessica Buth, and Skye Rawlings. While all toiled well in very heavy conditions no one qualified for the All School Cross Country Championships.
Jade McAtamney played in the open girls soccer inter regional championships. In a very successful campaign the team made the final but were unfortunate to lose the final.
Mason Colwell was chosen to be the Sydney North referee at the recent inter regional touch championships. His performance as referee were such that he was chosen to referee the final. Mason has also been selected to referee at the Pacific School Games in Adelaide. This is one of the highest accolades a referee can be given in school sport. Mason is very generous with his time and has also helped out refereeing for our partner school Gosford primary in a recent knock out match. We all know that without referees sport stops so a special congratulations goes out to Mason.
In our weekly sports program we have just started the Term 3 sports and will continue through until the first week of Term 4. Year 7 will be going out of the school during weeks 7-10 to participate in ten pin bowling.
Snow Trip 2017
We all had an amazing trip at the snow from Tuesday 1 August to Friday 4 August. We had a perfect blue bird day on the Wednesday which gave the students a great opportunity to learn the basics of skiing and snowboarding.
Thursday and Friday were overcast but we were treated to some fresh snow which the students really appreciated.
We started our journey back from the slopes with a bus full of tired students. They did an amazing job and all of the teachers agree that they are one of the quickest groups of learners we have ever had.
Thank you to everyone for giving the students this fantastic opportunity. They made the most of every minute.

During week 3 a few students and myself from Years 9 and 10 went on a snow trip to Thredbo where we skied and snowboarded. We left on Tuesday morning for Jindabyne where we were staying on our trip. When we arrived we received our skis, boots, helmets and boards. The next two days consisted of skiing and snowboarding. We would travel in our coach to the snow every day (thanks Eric).
We would get up at 6:00am every morning and go to breakfast at 6:30am, then leave around 7:20am, arrive at the snow for our first lesson at 8:30am which was two hours long and we had another lesson in the afternoon but we had 2 hours of free time around lunch time.
On our second day I got to ski up in the mountain which was quite terrifying because I could only see 10 metres in front of me it was that foggy, but after I completed the course I felt like I conquered all, I was and still am super proud of myself, it is a fear demolished.
When we came back from Thredbo one of the best things was chilling out in the games room with everyone. We would play pool, cards, snap and even UNO. It was really good to hang out with everyone this trip was definitely one of the best.
