Year Advisers Reports

Year 8
Welcome back to all Year 8 students for Term 3.
I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the relieving Year Adviser for Year 8 while Mrs Starkey steps into the role of Head Teacher in PDHPE. I look forward to a rewarding time looking after your child's welfare needs.
Now is an exciting time for students as they begin to look ahead to their time at Henry Kendall High School in Years 9 and 10.
Part of this is the important process of subject selections. I encourage all students to follow their passions and interests when making their choices. The subjects students select now will play a big part in their learning and enjoyment in their next two years at school. Any student who is unsure of their options should speak to their teachers about subject suitability.
Mr Daniel Quilty Relieving Year 8 Adviser
Year 10
What a busy start to Term 3!
Year 10 Interviews
Year 10 started off the term extremely well as they participated in the Year 10 Interviews. The interviews focused on their current progress and aspirations as they move into senior school. Each student is to be commended on their maturity, presentation and communication skills during their interview. Mrs James and I were so proud of each and every one of you.
Teen Mental Health First Aid Training
Tiarna Houghton, Eli Clarkson, Sirena Butterworth, Tom Marsh and Angela Sibley of Year 10 attended the Teen Mental Health First Aid Course at Green Central Kariong over a two day period. The students gained valuable skills that will allow them to support their fellow school community and promote positive wellbeing through events and awareness. We look forward to the great plans this group will develop in the future.
SBAT Traineeship Opportunities
Year 10 students are being offered an opportunity to participate in the CCLHD 2018/2019 SBAT Traineeship program. The School Based Apprenticeship/Traineeship offers students a placement in Allied Health, Nursing and Corporate Support roles whilst completing their HSC. The initial information session is on 31 August. If you are interested in this upcoming opportunity, please see Mrs Hawker or Miss Perkins to place your name on the list
Keep up the great work Year 10.
Miss Tegan Perkins
Year 10 Adviser
Year 12
This week, students in Year 12 began their Trial HSC Examinations. This represents not only a taste of the HSC Examinations later on in the year, but also marks the end of their school based assessment tasks. I am sure that many students were well-prepared for this period, and I wish them all luck over the next two weeks. It is vitally important that once the students return to class after the Trial period, they are engaged in their learning, and revising consistently at home. This will ensure that they will each receive a HSC and ATAR of which they are proud.
I would like to congratulate Max Clignett for his selection in the Australian Taekwondo team. The team is currently competing at the World Championships in Argentina. This is an incredible accomplishment and opportunity. Go Max!
Information for the many ‘end of Year 12’ events and activities will be released soon, as will the payment details for the Year 12 Formal, to be held at the Crowne Plaza, Terrigal on Monday 20 November.
With School Captain voting for 2018 completed, our current Captains, Vice Captains and Prefects are nearing the end of the tenure. They have led their year group and school in an honourable and energetic fashion, with moments filled with humour, care and respect. I would like to sincerely thank Teneille Jacobson, Owen Butterworth (captains), Olivia Hull, Rohan Barsing (vice captains), Seohyun Inn, Alicia Kostalas and Peta Ralph (prefects) for their commitment to the SRC and to the school.
