CCP - Chess

In May, BSC hosted an interschool chess tournament for first time since 2013.

The school Chess team fought bravely against teams from Coburg High School, Northcote High School, Albert Park College, Lalor Secondary College, Viewbank College, Mount Alexander College as well as the eventual winning team from Suzanne Cory High School.

Chess involves careful planning and logical thinking under pressure - great abilities to develop. The Chess Club  is part of the BSC Cocurricula Program and meets every Thursday and new members are always welcome! We hope to host  a tournament again  next year - and we are working toward being the winners next time!

Congratulations to Natasha Murty for a Gold Medal and Klaudia Rose for a Bronze medal. Jack Chen and Owen Parris have also qualified for the state finals of the chess competition to be held in Term 4.

We played against students around the same age,  and they were nice. It was a challenging but fun day.

Even when you lose the game it’s okay, because you can learn tactics [from the opposition] and use them in your next game.
