Year 11 Debating:

Last week we worked with the Year 11 English class taught by Mrs. Bradbeer to develop debating tactics, issues analysis skills and collaborative working in teams (an aptitude highly valued by employers in this era in which we are living. It was worthwhile in a number of ways, as explained here.

Transforming Our World:

The United Nations has set goals for sustainable living in its Agenda 2030. This plan of action is aimed at people, planet and prosperity. It also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. The goals are integrated and indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: the economic, social and environmental.

The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) requested feedback form school libraries as to how we are working towards these goals. This posed interesting questions for us in terms of what we do and why we do it, which have been addressed here. I am pleased to report that we are contributing towards a number of the target areas.

Junior Branch News:

The Library program has been adjusted a few times in recent weeks due to several school events, and demands on Mr Nelson’s time. It is very pleasing that very few lessons have been missed altogether. The space is looking beautiful and students and staff are really enjoying having a bigger area in which to enjoy the delights of our well-resourced Handbury Information Centre.
