Music Concert

Norris Bank Primary School
On Wednesday, 19th October over 40 Greensborough College musicians participated in a concert at Norris Bank Primary School. We played four Band songs: “Rock Around the Clock” and “Minor Rock” (conducted by Mr Martin Webster), “Funky Town” and “I Feel Good” (conducted by Mrs Ventura). The Choir sang “One Call Away” and “Stitches” accompanied by Shannon Hart on Drums and Cameron Laird on Electric Guitar. Candice Dower captured the audience by her heart felt rendition of Mariah Carey’s “Hero”, then we all joined in the finale.
The primary students really enjoyed all of the songs: I haven’t seen that many players on Air-Drums, Guitars and Horns in my life. And let me tell you, they can all sing in tune at Norris Bank. From now on we should make this school our priority for future visits.
Our students did a great job, not only playing and singing beautifully, but also mastering the tricky foldable stands and moving equipment to and from the performance venue with minimal fuss. Fantastic team effort, boys and girls!
A huge thank you goes to Mrs Ventura and Mr Webster who have brought our Concert Band to the level rarely attained by the beginner players. Sarah Price did a great job taking photos and making sure they are made available for this week’s Newsletter. I would love to extend my deepest gratitude to Malcolm Williams who has willingly accepted the role of our Music Department Appointed (and preferred) driver.
Next Wednesday, 26th October, as part of our Band and Choir Tour of Local Primary Schools, this large group of musicians will visit Apollo Parkways Primary School. Wish us good luck!
