‘Every school can and will improve. Good schools will become excellent schools.

Excellent schools can, and do, become better.’

Claudia Johnson

Assistant Principal

As readers know,  the school is currently undergoing the School Review process.  Every four years, every government school undertakes a review and reflects on what the school is doing well, what the school needs to improve on, as well as new ideas improve the school. The review includes asking all stakeholders - students, teachers, school leaders, and parents - for feedback. This information is used to guide improvement within our school - to make the school a better place for learning and wellbeing.

‘Students have a right to be heard.’

Students have unique perspectives on learning, teaching and schooling and should have the opportunity to actively shape their own education - so providing an opportunity for students to contribute feedback is a priority for our School Review.

The BSC Student Forum

was conducted on

Wednesday 5 September

Participants in the forum were chosen by random selection with the opportunity for volunteers to opt-in.  Over 70 students were involved, ensuring that the student community was well represented across all year levels. Participants were encouraged to talk with their friends, peers and family prior to the forum and to take time to clarify their criticisms, ideas and suggestions before bringing them to the session.

During the very busy forum,  students contributed to open discussion about what they believe that BSC does well and what BSC could improve on, as well as discussing new ideas for the school to implement. Conversation was focused,  inspired, considered and animated - with students effectively communicating their ideas and intently listening to the opinions of others. It was a vibrant, productive and successful forum!

The student feedback is being collated, along with feedback from the staff and parent community, by the Leadership Team.  This information will be reported in upcoming newsletters.

We sincerely thank all those students who participated in the forum; their commitment, insight and honesty are invaluable assests in the process of continual improvement at BSC.
