Foundation News
This fortnight in Foundation we have been very busy!
In Literacy we explored the book ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and learned about the characters, setting and events in the story.
We also planted our own bean plants and will watch them grow carefully. Maybe they will make it all the way to the castle!
We have also been lucky enough to explore different fruits and learn about the different parts of plants that we eat. Some children couldn’t believe that we eat roots, like carrots!
A big highlight was the Puppet Show! We loved watching The Wizard’s Tale and meeting Poopy Doo. We also got to see inside the puppet theatre and learn how the show is performed. We are looking forward to our puppet making workshops in a few weeks’ time.
In Maths we are learning to code using our Bee-Bots. We made mazes for our Bee-Bots to travel through, used the Bee-Bots to measure different objects and created our own Bee-Bot mats! We used our creativity and critical thinking skills to design and program. It was lots of fun!
We were also fortunate to have a woodworking incursion as part of our Term 3 ‘Toys and technology’ unit. Students made their own spaceship using wood and various tools. We needed to listen carefully and follow a step-by-step process to create a finished piece. It was lots of fun!
We are looking forward to learning a Christmas carol and performing it for the school community to watch. FK and FS will be singing a song together and FB and FW will be singing together. Please support your child to learn the words to the song and the actions that go with it.
We are on the lookout for some old pots, pans and utensils that can be used outside for our mud kitchen. If you have any of these items you are willing to donate, please give them to your child’s teacher. We appreciate your support!
Have a wonderful week!
