BUSHWALKING CAMP

A Great Camp

From 26 to 29 May, the year 10 VCE VET Outdoor Recreation class went on a bushwalking camp to the Otway National Park, not far from the Great Ocean Road.

We communicated with the teachers and guides through radios, and using a compass and a map navigated around to different campsites each night. Unlike other camps there was little teacher guidance which allowed us to really test what we had learned in our classes. For the duration of the camp we had to cook and carry all of our food and equipment. We also had to set up camp and complete a series of challenges throughout the week from Initiative activities, Canoeing and Mountain biking. Overall, it was a great camp as it was different to what we would usually get to experience. Thanks to Mr Thickins and Mr Gason for helping make it so enjoyable.
