CROSS COUNTRY

Cross country is a compulsory event for years 7-10, and happens once a year. It gives students the chance to represent their House and earn valuable points for the overall House competition. This year it was held on Tuesday 17 March, in fifth period. The track is set up at the park which goes all around the school and is a total of three kilometres long. Students who finish in the top 10 have the opportunity to represent Kew High School at the Division Cross Country.

The weather was cloudy and rain was predicted, but that didn’t stop Kew High, the students were still eager and ready to race despite the weather.

Students had the option to raise funds through the Adidas Fun Run. The Adidas Fun Run is a physical activity based fundraiser where students run or walk to raise money for their school. The money comes from family, friends and other community members who sponsor an individual to participate in the School Fun-Run. Raising money on behalf of your school, can reward you with the very best incentive prizes. The run is all about having fun. It encourages students to get outside and be active. This gives students the chance to raise money for their school and to get into the next round of Division Cross Country.

The Division Cross Country gives students the chance to compete against other schools. The top ten from each year level get the chance to participate in the Regional Cross Country.

Well done to all the students who participated in  the Kew High Cross Country. Overall this event was a success and it was great to see all the students’ smiles once they crossed the finish line.
