YEAR 8 CAMP

Great Fun!

In May, Year 8 camped at Kinglake Ranges Wilderness Centre.

“It was very green, but freezing and some parts were black from Black Saturday,” said Hiroki.

“There were many trees around and there was lots of mud,” added Cleo.

“It was freezing cold and it snowed at the camp in Kinglake,” said Mitch.

The students had a wonderful time in spite of the inclement weather and spoke about some of the best things they did and learnt:

“I had never seen snow in Australia before, so it was pretty amazing,” said Hiroki.

“The best thing was the water course because falling in the water was fun,“ added Cleo.

“We did the hiking which was exciting and fun,” said Jeff.

“The rope ladder was scary.  It was tall and if the harness was not on right, it would have been dangerous, but I had great fun and after, I got to roast marshmallows,” said Mitch

The best thing according to Tahani was, “The leap of faith. I challenged myself to jump off the top.”

“I learnt better communication and to work in a team,” said Alana.

“…and how to meditate,” added Nathan.

Another student pointed out, “that weather doesn’t necessarily ruin your fun”.

Students would like to thank the camp organisers, the coordinators and their teachers for an enjoyable Year 8 camp.
