Hands On Learning

Hands on Learning in 2021 has been another busy year. Students have attended every Wednesday to work on small and large projects. Our Artisan Teacher Mr Jamie Harding resigned from his position and we also welcomed Mr Vince Molluso.

Students achieved many things in and out of remote and onsite learning. Projects completed this year include the mosaic tiling of the pizza oven, potting tables made from recycled pallets for the Sustainability club, rebuilding the vegetable garden at the front of Cill Dara House, harvesting and planting of herbs and vegetables, building the car park at the rear of Cill Dara House, making pallet Christmas trees, creating SJE cookies, painting/maintaining the wooden garden boxes in the yard and many other jobs around the school.

Congratulations to all students on their participation and dedication to Hands on Learning. It has been the highlight of the week for all of us!

Special thanks to Dale Ryan and Clint Jurey in our Maintenance Department who are often assisting behind the scenes. Thank you also to Vanessa Mahoney who works with the HoL students to complete grocery shopping, plan and prepare our lunchtime meals.

We are looking forward to many more exciting projects in 2022!
