'Giving tree' a chance to brighten Christmas

We are hoping to brighten Christmas for those less fortunate in our community by providing a giving tree at the college. Families have the opportunity to donate a Christmas gift before the end of the term. The gifts will be forwarded to St Vincent de Paul Society as part of the college's end-of-year Mass on Thursday, for distribution before Christmas. Those who wish to donate, please send a wrapped gift to school with your child no later than Thursday morning Pastoral Group time. Please include a tag that indicates the gender and age the gift is suitable for.

Advent - a time of preparation and anticipation

Last Tuesday, we were finally able to begin our series of paraliturgies where, as a college, we celebrate each of the Sundays of Advent. It was one of the few opportunities, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, that we have had to gather together as a faith community.

Each of the four Sundays of Advent has a different theme that prepares us for the coming of the Lord. The first Sunday of Advent calls us to be people of hope. The birth of Jesus is prophesised throughout the books of the Old Testament and generations of the twelve tribes of Israel had lived and died in the hope of seeing the promised Saviour.

This morning we gathered as a college community to mark the second Sunday of Advent. We will continue to celebrate each Sunday of Advent on the preceding Friday, with our last paraliturgy to be held on the final day of student attendance.

Our end-of-year college Mass will be held on Thursday from 10:00am. This will be followed by the blessing of the flagpoles and playing fields, a barbecue lunch and the Staff vs Students soccer match.

Please consider placing a gift under our giving tree which is situated just inside the main college entrance. These donations will be passed onto Vinnies for distribution in time for Christmas. Have a safe and joyful Christmas!
