Lots of exciting plans for Orientation Day

Orientation Day will be held on Tuesday, December 7, with a variety of activities scheduled for our School of Innovation students. Our current Year 7 students will spend the day at the college undertaking a Year 8 Inquiry-based learning program and activities.

Orientation Day for students going into Year 9 in 2022 will be off site. This day has been designed with a strong leadership focus around the college’s learning assets - students showcasing their ability to be a collaborator, communicator, researcher, self-manager and a thinker. Students will be engaged in a variety of leadership-focused activities that will occur at St Mel’s School Hall and in Shepparton’s CBD. Students will be utilising the St Mel’s School Hall as their base for the day. All current Year 8 students will be required to make their way to St Mel’s School Hall, 35 Hamilton St, Shepparton, for a 9:00am start. Students who travel by bus can get off at the McGuire College Bus Exchange and walk to the hall. St Anne's College staff will be present at the exchange to support this process. Those students who wish to walk or ride to the hall are more than welcome to do so. There will be a space where bikes can be kept safe for the day. There is a drop-off/pick-up zone in Hamilton St that can be utilised by parents who wish to drop off/pick up their child at the hall.

Students going into Year 10 in 2022 will travel by bus from St Anne's College to Bendigo on Orientation Day to attend a presentation and tour of La Trobe University and Bendigo TAFE, exploring options for future study. Students will then explore our Catholic Identity by visiting Sacred Heart Cathedral and connecting with a representative from the Youth Ministry team. They will have lunch at the botanic gardens at Rosalind Park and return to the college at 5:00pm.

Parents/carers of current Years 8 and 9 students are asked to please ensure the permission form for their child's Orientation Day activities has been submitted.

Reed writes a rippa of a rhyming story

The Year 7s were recently asked to make a short, rhyming picture book. This was a task for English and the visual elements of it were completed during the students' Visual Communications/Visual Arts rotations. Here is an outstanding example from Year 7 student Reed Harrington.

The college will begin collecting student devices from Wednesday, December 8, after NAPLAN pre-testing, to Friday, December 10, to begin our preparation for 2022. For this to run as smoothly as possible, we ask that students bring their iPad and all accessories to

school. This includes:
