Hawthorn Secondary School Visit

On Tuesday 7th August, a select group of Year 10 students attended a ‘Hawthorn Secondary School Visit’ at Waverley Park.

The program is run every year and we are always grateful to be invited.

This year the topics discussed were:

  • Love Me Love You (mental health)
  • Nutrition presentation
  • Leadership and goal setting presentation
  • Facility tour/day in the life of an AFL player
  • Goal kicking/footy activity in the warm up area

Each session was led by the AFL, VFL and AFLW players and they offered a great question and answer session, including photos, at the conclusion of the class.

All students behaved well and some of the players were impressed and amused at some of our students comments, observations, insight and of course, our questions.

Whilst Jaeger O'Meara was not participating in the program, some lucky students (and Kerry) were fortunate to share a lift with him.

Overall, the students and staff who attended had a great day and I am sure they all learnt something new.
