Maths Competition

Seventy-five students across year levels 7 – 11 made their way to the exam centre on Thursday morning, 9th August, to participate in this nationwide challenge. The students need to know basic mathematics rules to answer simple equations. They are also required to make use of trial and error, logic and other problem solving skills to complete more puzzling tasks. There are 25 multiple choice questions, with A – E options and 5 problems that require a whole number answer between 1 and 999. How did our students go? We have to wait until early in term 4 for the results. Every student receives a certificate acknowledging their participation and level of achievement – Credit, Distinction, High Distinction.

How would you have gone?

Leo's Club

The Leo Club of Healesville High School has been working extremely hard this term, with numerous projects running to raise money for shade sails over the down-ball courts. Following consultation with the student community, this was identified as a point of need, particularly as it is currently a very popular yard activity for many students and there is very little shade on those sunny days. Since deciding to make this project their focus, the Leo Club has raised a considerable amount of money from their out of uniform day and sausage sizzle. This term, the Leo Club ran the school production raffle which was drawn on the closing night of the production, Saturday the 25th of August.

Recently the leaders of the Leo Club attended a meeting at the Healesville RSL hosted the Lions Club of Healesville, where they were presented with a cheque for $500 from the Lions, in support of their shade sails project. We are incredibly grateful for the wonderful support and encouragement that the Lions Club provides our students and the evening was a wonderful opportunity to share ideas and plan for future events.
