Year 9/10 Girls AFL

On Thursday 26th July a unified team competed in the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Finals for AFL held at Springfield Park in Box Hill North.  It was an amazing achievement to even make it through into this level of competition.  The girls played two hard fought matches against Mount Waverley SC and Ringwood SC, however were unable to secure the victory on either occasion.

The teamwork and enthusiasm that was demonstrated throughout the day was fantastic to see, with the girls celebrating individual achievements within the games.

The team was led by Estelle Peterson who was essential in stoppages and with her run through the middle, linking up with Carmen Hauptmann who was pivotal on the wing.  Kaela Willemsen, Eden Minney and Erin Gommers worked well together the whole day, putting high amounts of pressure on the opposition and completing a number of successful tackles resulting in turn overs for Healesville.

While we were unable to come away with a win this year, the girls are more determined than ever to train hard and return next year stronger than ever.

Well done to all students who were a part of the team this year and represented Healesville High School so outstandingly.

Year 9/10 Basketball

On Friday 27th July Healesville was represented by two girls and one  boys teams in the Yarra Division Interschool Sport Basketball Competition.  Students played a number of games across the day, and the effort that was put in each match was fantastic to see. While our students were unfortunately unable to claim a win, their spirits remained high, and they were determined to try their very best and have fun, which is always our first priority.  Stand out players were Brooke Erickson in the girls A team, and Noah Warton in the boys A team.  Well done to all students who were a part of the teams and contributed to it being a great day.

Year 8 Girls Basketball

A dedicated team of girls gave up their lunchtimes on a number of occasions to practice their skills and train up for the Interschool Basketball Competition this year, which took place on Wednesday 8th August.  The girls incorporated a number of tactical strategies throughout their matches in attempts to gain a victory against some tough opponents, however were unsuccessful. There were some great individual efforts, with standout performances from Sienna Muke and Issy Smith who worked well together all day. Congratulations to all students who were a part of the team and represented Healesville High School with pride.

Year 7 Badminton

On Friday 10th August both our girls and boys Badminton teams who won their previous Interschool Yarra Division Competition in Term two, had the opportunity to compete at the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Finals.

The girls team consisted of Misty Skeene, April Hoiles, Kia Hubbard, Makenzee Harbinson, and Honey Evans. The boys team included Reece Smith, Connor Fallon, Marley Deefholts, Oscar Grenfell and Bob Scott.

Students competed against East Doncaster, Glen Waverley and Ringwood Secondary Colleges in a mixture of singles and doubles matches and were also responsible for scoring and umpiring games across the day. While there were a few individual wins for both teams, overall the ability level of their opponents was just too strong and Healesville was unable to secure a win for the day.

It was great to see the sportsmanship demonstrated from our students on the day, and spirits remaining high.  To make it through to compete at this level is an outstanding achievement in itself and one of which every student should be proud.  Well done to all!
