5-8 Community News

Welcome Rikki Busch
This term we welcomed Rikki Busch to our community. Rikki is teaching in the Year 8 learning space and has taken on Mrs Angelino's TA group. Rikki has already formed some great relationships with students and is looking forward to meeting other members of our school and wider community. Rikki worked at Lancaster Primary School before joining us.
Years 5/6 PBL
Our Year 5/6 students are currently working on a Science unit within PBL. They are studying solids, liquids and gases, the meaning of these and where we see solids, liquids and gases in our every day activities. For their projects, students will make a product that includes all three of the aspects. Slime is an example of this.
Drum Beat
The Drum Beat Program (pictured in our banner) will continue on Thursdays. We currently have eight students undertaking this. Sarah Langley oversees and leads this and the feedback from the students, is that although they can find getting the beat of the drum difficult at times, the program is fun and engaging.
Community Events
Our students continue to be involved in a number of community events. Meals on Wheels will continue this term, Junior Park Ranges at the Fauna Park and iCan at the Community Centre. These are opportunities to continue our partnerships with the community and further improve our students' communication and collaboration skills.
