Please Support our Destiny Rescue Project
Mother’s Day is approaching very quickly! Mother’s Day is the day we give our beloved mum (or our beloved family member) a present or a gift to show our appreciation of them. We might buy a bookmark, a book or a make a card from the heart? But what if this year you did something even better than that? Something that looks beautiful and saves the lives of young?
What am I on about you may ask? What is this gift?
This gift is a piece of jewellery, but this isn't any machine made jewellery. This jewellery is made by girls whose lives have been saved by people buying jewellery! Well, my friends and I (Jemma Milligan and Paige Phipps) have decided to host a Jewellery party for Destiny Rescue!
First, I better explain what destiny rescue is:
Destiny Rescue is an organisation that saves girls from a life of human trafficking.
Under the Trafficking Protocol, to which Australia is a signatory, human trafficking is defined as: the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of a person through means such as threat or use of force, coercion, deception, or abuse of power or vulnerability; for the purpose of exploiting that person through slavery, forced labour, servitude, debt bondage, organ removal or other forms of exploitation.
Trafficking is a horrible act and it impacts on the freedom of vulnerable individuals. It is illegal in Australia and in most countries in the world, but it still happens.
It is about reducing a human being and making them into an object.
Doesn't sound nice, does it? You know right now you can do something. You can be a part of the solution. Destiny Rescue is just waiting there to help them. By buying one piece of jewellery that helps so much.
That simple purchase helps Destiny Rescue get into those places and secretly get the girls out. That purchase helps those girls have the human rights they deserve. That purchases supplies water, food, education and a home for those girls.
By buying one piece of jewellery (whether for your mother or for a gift for yourself/friend) you are contributing to a better solution for the life of a child affected by Human Trafficking.
The Jewellery Stall will be set up in the Front Office for approximately four weeks. Please contact one of us if you would like to purchase one of the items or pop into the school for further information.
Please be part of the solution to Human Trafficking.
