Principal's Report

Stay focused on what is important

At this time of the year, at the tail end of our winter, it is about now that students can fall into an end term “slump”.  It is really important that we all stay focused on what is important.

Year 12 students, it is essential that you put time and effort into your studies as we get closer and closer to the formal exam period.  Do not let doubt in your ability to achieve creep into your thoughts and make sure that you continue to put in the work now as it is really going to pay off come the exams.  There is plenty of time after the exams to allow distractions to creep in.

If you feel that you are falling behind, get assistance from teachers, coordinators, the wellbeing team or your family and friends.  I personally find making lists and setting small steps to move forward really helps.  Perhaps a countdown calendar and a reworked study timetable is something that would work for you.

It is important that you restrict the number of hours of casual work per week.  Employees are generally very understanding.  Most importantly, reward yourself when you do achieve a goal or finish a task.

This advice applies equally to all our students.  There are opportunities for students to work with the support of our staff to redeem ‘non-recommendations’ in relation to VCE studies or to really show your teachers (and yourself!) how much you have developed as a learner.

This is the time of the year where with determination and dedication, you can really make a difference to your end of year learning outcomes.
