Leadership

MUNA

Congratulations to Dessy Turk and Samantha Cattermole, both from Year 11 on their participation at 'MUNA', the Model United Nations Assembly held at Parliament House.

The purpose of MUNA is to encourage young people to learn about other nations and to understand and appreciate the workings of the United Nations while they develop debating skills and gain self-confidence in public speaking. The resolutions to be debated are based on some actually debated by the UN as well as some proposed by the teams. The debates reproduce genuine UN debates often with a fine flow of rhetoric, points of order, motions of dissent and bloc walkouts! It was truly fascinating to watch.

There were many new friendships made with the other teams from schools across Melbourne. The Rotary Club runs this event and Moorabbin Rotary sponsored our students.

Thanks to Ekaterina Xanthopoulos for her time and effort in assisting the students to prepare.

Student Leadership Conferences

There are a variety of student leadership conferences and workshops available to our leadership teams at all year levels this term.

  • Friday 25 May  – World Vision Youth Conference (three vacancies from Years 9 to 12 available)
  • Thursday 14 June  – VASGSC Year 8 Friendship Day at MGSC

All student leaders must regularly check their emails for information about meetings and events.
