Year 7 2019 Enrolment
Our Open Evening and Afternoons are timed to give prospective families the opportunity to visit and learn about the school before submitting their applications for 2019 enrolments.
A reminder to our current families and to any families you know that are considering being part of our school in 2019 that South Eastern Region Victoria (SERV) enrolment forms for Year 7, 2019 must be returned to your primary school by Friday 11 May.
Out of zone applicants must complete the MGSC application form and return it with the SERV application form by the same date.
Enhancement Program
Edutest registration due by Monday 14 May
From 2019 onwards, Mentone Girls’ Secondary College will run an Enhancement Program that has been designed to engage girls whose need for an academic challenge is greater than the average. The Program will offer extended studies in English, Mathematics, Humanities and Science and will focus on rich tasks and inquiry-based learning. The girls who take part in the program will be given the opportunity to work at greater depth and will have many opportunities to pursue their interests within units of study. They can expect to take a deeper look at their topics and to make more connections between their studies and the world beyond the classroom. They will be encouraged to see how their subjects connect to each other instead of thinking of them as isolated. The Enhancement Program is intended to help students to develop a life-long interest in learning that will extend far beyond the VCE.
The Program will commence at Year 7 in 2019 and will expand through to Year 9 in 2021. Students who have taken part in the Program will be able to participate in multiple Unit 1 & 2 subjects in Year 10.
In order to participate in the Enhancement Program, students must take part in a testing and interview process.
