Middle School - Year 7 to 9

Middle-School Student Update

I want to start by congratulating our students on completing their second week of learning from home. Our students and their families have shown enormous patience, persistence and strength as we navigate this uncharted territory together. The commitment and effort our students have given to their education during this time has been inspirational.

We appreciate the adaptability and positive feedback provided as we navigate the remote teaching and learning process. We are continuously working to address concerns and consider suggestions to better the distance learning experience of our students.

The understanding and patience shown by students and parents/guardians as we make adjustments to refine our teaching practices, and the enormous effort required of parents/guardians to help and support their children in accessing lessons and assignments, is recognised and deeply appreciated.

It is also a timely reminder of the vast wellbeing support available through the college. We understand that the current situation may have many members of the college community feeling anxious, stressed or disconnected. Please remember that we are here to help and assist where possible through these strange times, with students' DiSCovery teachers being their first point of call if they are needing extra assistance or guidance.

For additional wellbeing support, the Student Wellbeing Team can be contacted by emailing dscwellbeingteam@gmail.com or text your name to 0418 494 633.

I look forward to seeing our students’ faces and hearing the laughter that usually fills our classrooms and school yard when it is safe to do so.

Thanking you again for your continued support.

Year 7 End of Term 1 Awards

I’ve been absolutely blown away by the resilience, maturity and responsibility that the vast majority of our Year 7 students have demonstrated during the first two weeks of Term Two.

Your attendance and engagement with classes has been phenomenal. Well done! I would also like to acknowledge the incredible work of the entire Year 7 cohort during Term One.

Not only have you navigated your first term of high school with resilience and responsibility, you’ve also built strong networks through teamwork and have demonstrated respect towards your teachers and peers.

Congratulations

Each term we celebrate the achievements of students who’ve been recognised for their work around the school through the merit point system.

Nearly half the year level received a merit point for their behaviour which is incredible! We would normally celebrate the end of term with a student-led assembly where we recognise amazing work from across the school. Unfortunately we cannot meet together to do that currently but I would still like to thank you for your incredible work during Term One.
