Library Resources - We're Here to Support You
During the last two weeks in the library there have been about six students of different year levels engaged in independent remote learning.
As the term commenced, the students were adapting and changing to the new style of education and I am pleased to say that these students have become more engaged and confident with the routine of online learning.
They have become comfortable in this setting and are also communicating with each other during their lunch breaks whilst adhering to social distancing. It’s good to see the smiles on their faces.
The library has also been answering enquiries from students, parents and teachers concerning:
- Jacaranda e-books and accounts
- ClickView accounts
- Compass password and log-in details
- Supplying laptops for select student
- Supplying resources for select students

School Production Cancelled
It is with regret that we advise that the 2020 Doncaster Secondary College Musical Production of Footloose – scheduled to take place in Term 3 - has been cancelled. The decision to cancel the production comes after careful consideration and acts in accordance with the current Government advice.
We understand this will be disappointing news to all, however, the practicalities of continuing to rehearse and plan for such an event has become increasingly difficult as community restrictions regarding the COVID-19 virus have escalated over the past few weeks.
Due to the nature of the current situation it is also difficult to ‘postpone’ the production given the uncertainty as to when various restrictions regarding social distancing measures will be lifted.
The Performing Arts team will endeavour to provide students with alternate performance opportunities, where appropriate, once various limiting factors are lifted.

Slab Milestone -
New Year 7 Learning Centre Construction
This week marked a milestone in the build of our new Year 7 Learning Centre with the pouring of the concrete slab. The new two-storey facility will provide 10 general classrooms, two multi-use science rooms and a student toilet block. The facility is due to be completed in Term 4 this year.
Whilst our focus is drawn to the here and now as we embrace remote learning, we remind our College community that 'everything is for a season'. As our new build continues to take shape, our foundation for future learning is stronger than ever!

STEAM Club Goes Remote
We have continued with STEAM Club on Tuesdays via the Microsoft Teams app.
Even though we are isolated, we are still able to continue doing activities such as coding, experiments, robotics and more.
We are collaborating, sharing ideas and working together to have some fun while isolated.
This week we will be doing some coding and getting ready to learn remotely. If you are interesting in joining, please email Ms Purches and she will add you to the team.
