Music Matters

Online instrumental teaching has started and just like all the other subjects, we have had our share of teething problems.

Overall however, the majority of students have managed to join their instrumental lessons and have been given tasks to go on with while learning at home.

We really appreciate the patience of households with loud instruments being played at various times throughout the day. Wind Symphony rehearsals have already had students playing at 8am so that shows great understanding by some households.

Most instrumental tasks can be done at a time that suits the student’s home routine, but they should also touch-base with their instrumental teachers during the scheduled lesson time, if that is what the instrumental teacher has organised.

The main aim is to keep students playing their instruments until they can see their teachers again in person. Students have been able to upload recordings of themselves to Compass learning tasks and saxophone and Rock Band lessons have been experimenting with the online program BandLab which allows them to create multi-track recordings.

Instrumental lessons are alive and well, and we hope to have some creations of multi-track recordings to share with the DSC community soon.
