Literacy Notes

Books, Books and More Books!

Last term we asked families to donate any good quality reading material that they no longer needed, and we have been thrilled with the response. Thank you for your generosity. Our classroom libraries are steadily expanding with ‘literature of substance’ as our Assistant Principal, Mrs Simpson would say!

We can still fit more books in so if you had intended to pass some on but hadn’t quite got around to it, please either bring them to school and pop them on the table outside the staff room or send them with your child/children to distribute at school.

Last year we won an ‘eSmart Cyber Safe Families Competition’ for the work our school is doing to engage parents in cyber safety. One of the prizes was a 'Booktopia' voucher valued at $500. The Literacy Committee have used the voucher to purchase classroom library reading material. We decided to focus on building up the Year 6 resources as their independent reading material was sadly depleted.  The children have been delighted to receive a variety of books as well as three magazine subscriptions.

Here, our Library Captains, Declan O (6B) and Emily Q (6B), are showing off some of the new titles and becoming engrossed in some excellent reading material along the way!
