General News & Reminders

Robotics Raffle!

The Year 5 Robotics Group are aiming to participate in the FIRST Lego League which runs from August culminating in a competition weekend to present the teams’ robotic solution to a problem.

We are running a raffle at the Beaumaris Farmers Market (11 May) to help us purchase the Lego EV3 Kits required which cost $800 each. These are the next level kits above the sets the school purchased with the last fete proceeds. The kits will remain at the school for use in following years.

The prize for the raffle is a Mini Sphero Robotic toy valued at $80.

We would like to open this raffle up to any students who wish to enter during Tuesday, Thursday and Friday next week (Wednesday is Y3 - 6 Cross Country). The Year 5’s will sell tickets at the table outside their classroom at recess.

The tickets are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00.

We will also be running a demonstration of the robots the students have made, and the Spheros, at the Beaumaris Farmers Market on Saturday 11 May so come on down!

Thank you for your support.

National Walk Safely to School Day - 17 May

Start planning your Walk Safely to School Day journey for Friday 17 May!

Walk Safely to School Day asks that we all consider our transport habits and try to incorporate more walking as part of a healthy, active way to get around. Although walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for many, it’s quite easy to figure out how you can build a walk into your family’s daily routine. You can teach your child the healthy habit of walking more by:

  • Walking with them the whole way to school
  • If they get the bus or train, walk past your usual stop and get on at the next stop
  • If you have to drive, park the car a few blocks away from the school and walk the rest of the way.

Regular exercise like walking with your child not only helps them (and you!) beat chronic problems like obesity, heart disease, behavioural and mental health issues and diabetes. It also gives you a great opportunity to teach your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic. Happy walking!
