From the Principal
Week 1 Term 1 2021
Dear Parents
Welcome to the 2021 School year. There was an enormous amount of chatter and excitement amongst both students and parents as they entered the school grounds this morning. There was a feeling of normality (COVID style) which I trust will continue throughout the year. There are still restrictions we need to abide by and some of them are outlined below. I expect the type and level of restriction will be fluid during the year. I will keep you updated.
I had the pleasure of visiting each classroom this morning and having a quick chat to all the children. They were very excited to be in their new classroom with their new classmates and new teacher. We welcome all the new families to St Bede's and hope you enjoy your time with us.
Preps 2021
Our Prep students will commence tomorrow. This is a very exciting day for not only the child but the whole family.
For all Prep parents and family members attending St Bede's tomorrow I request that you sign in at the book at the front of the Prep classrooms. This will allow you to remain on the grounds for longer then 15 minutes.
Drop off and Pick Up
The drop off and pick up times will return to normal this year. Therefore the pick up time will return to 3.15pm. I ask that you please remember to social distance and not gather together in large groups.
Parents may collect their children from the playground, an open area outside their classroom, or from Marwal Ave or Severn St. Parents are not to gather in corridors or enclosed areas. Any visitors who are on the grounds for longer than 15 minutes are required to sign in. Therefore to abide by the operational guidelines and not have parents need to sign in, the gates to enter the school ( at collection time) will not open till 3.10pm. This will mean that parents will also need to have left the school grounds by 3.25pm. Thank you for your understanding.
Tuckshop
Tuckshop will resume in Week 2 of Term 1. At this stage the tuckshop will still operate on a limited menu. I expect this to change in the coming weeks as we are provided with further information.
Beginning of Year Mass
Our Beginning of Year mass will take place on Friday 5th February. Unfortunately parents will not be allowed to attend because we will be unable to abide by the following restriction.
If an event is held with external guests (parents/carers/visitors), then the overall attendee limit (inclusive of guests, staff and students) must be based on the available floor space of the venue, with the density limit of one person per two square metres applied. ( the Church is limited to 180 under the above criteria)
This will also apply to our Ash Wednesday mass on the 17th of February.
If there are any questions please do not hesitate to contact the office or myself.
Have a great week
Brian
