The Commencement Program challenge to create a tiny living space was well met by our Year 9 students. They applied their knowledge of area and perimeter to create their tiny living space in accordance with a set of constraints, and used scaling and architectural symbols to draft a floor plan. The individual creations were combined on posters to create class compounds.

The Year 10 Foundation class studied ratios in the context of making chocolate “rum” balls. On top of figuring out the required amounts for each of the ingredients, students also needed to calculate the most economical way to purchase their ingredients to ensure that they had enough to make their treats while minimising any leftovers. The students – and their teacher Mr Chan – all finished up the Commencement Program very full from enjoying their delicious creations!
