Covid - Parent Guide

Term 2 Update

We hope you have all had a safe and happy term break. We are looking forward to our children returning to school soon.

Last term our Government announced we will be heading into Covid Orange Light, unfortunately our country is still averaging 7,500 new Covid-19 cases a day and there is a new, more transmissible version of Omicron beginning to take

effect.

This means we need to continue to do all we can to slow or stop the spread of Covid-19, and alongside this keep us safe from further illnesses throughout our winter months.

As we move into Term 2, Orange Light processes offer us a small change.

What this will look like at Mangere Central School:

  • We will be strongly encouraging masks to be worn indoors at all times - by everyone
  • We ask that your year 3-8 child continue to bring a mask and wear a mask at school every day.
  • All students aged 12 and above are still required to wear a face mask on school or public transport.
  • After school and before school procedures remain the same.

We will continue to keep all the other health measures in place at school that we know slow the spread of COVID-19. These include:

  • ensuring our indoor spaces are well-ventilated
  • maintaining good hand hygiene and cough and sneeze etiquette
  • appropriate physical distancing whenever we can
  • and most importantly, staying home if we are sick.

These are our plans for the start of term two. With new Covid-19 variants and challenges, our plans need to be flexible and will change as the situation changes. We will do all we can to keep children safe while doing our best to limit disruption as much as possible.

As always, your understanding and support are both greatly appreciated.
